Grilled Cheese Instructional project

When I originally started my grilled cheese project it started as the second lesson in an eLearning class I created on Bearface for my instructional design class. In the eLearning class I provided the students with a written recipe of directions but before they could begin cooking themselves they were required to watch a 5 to 11 min video with me instructing them how to prepare and cook grilled cheese.

As I revised the instructional cooking video to become a visual document I thought about how I didn’t just want it to look like a regular recipe you would see online. I wanted the document to be colorful and attractive to the reader but was also informative. When I started thinking about layouts for my document I wanted it to be similar to an infographic. I did a few free handed sketches for layout and where I wanted certain content to be with a focus on information architecture.
